Kookaburra Karnival
Such was the success of the inaugural 2023 Kookaburra Karnival that we have already started planning the 2024 event! Watch this space for updates and details.
One hundred and Fifty players took part in last month's TEAM event hosted by Bribie Island Golf Club. Festivities began on Sunday night with Registration, Live Music, Dancing and a BBQ, and would have continued much longer but for the fact that most of us were tee-ing off at 7am the next day!
Day one - The Pairs Day - 4BBB in the morning and Foursomes in the afternoon was a day of glorious sunshine and some fantastic scores. What better way to test the Captain's choice of pairings? A Pizza & Pasta evening at the golf club was the perfect way to wind down, and debrief after the prizes were given out for the first day winners. Pairs celebrated (or commiserated) over a few beers or wines!
Day two - Single & Team - Single Stroke in the morning and Ambrose in the afternoon. The weather caught up with us finally, and we copped a drenching in the afternoon! The points system used throughout the competition meant that reward was given for both Nett and Gross scores, so the lead kept changing right to the last event - see the detailed scores below! Finally the Ball Busters from Nudgee Golf Club proved to be the most consistent scorers, and beat the team from Wide Bay Golf for the top spot. Prizes were given out during a celebratory party at Bribie, with Cheese & Charcuterie platters to go with the end-of-game drinks.
